Study on the Causes of Fouling of Rubber Data Cable Plug Mould


  In the rubber processing industry, the scaling problem of the rubber data cable plug mold is a common phenomenon. During the vulcanization process, a layer of deposit is formed on the wall surface of the data cable plug mold, which gradually accumulates in the subsequent production cycle. The previous literature discusses the effects of various factors that cause fouling of rubber data cable plug molds. It has now been found that for the various sulfides (and zinc oxide) contained in the polymer rubber mixture, zinc sulfide is the most annoying reaction by-product that causes scaling during vulcanization. There is no semi-permanent release agent or permanent (metallic) coating to avoid this deposit. The conclusion is: scaling is initially caused by zinc sulfide (inorganic deposits) attached to the data line plug mold and forms a gray deposit. As a function of temperature, the low molecular weight component of the mixture adheres to the zinc sulfide crystallites and causes the second stage of deposition (organic deposition). Oxidation products are formed within a certain period of time and cause carbon deposition.

Through the study of the causes of scaling, it is very possible to reduce this phenomenon.


   There are two possible solutions to prevent or reduce the formation of dirt: change the composition of the mixture or improve the surface of the mold.


  Change the composition of the mixture to reduce mold fouling


   Mold scale caused by zinc oxide or sulfide must be reduced or eliminated. Most of the deposits are related to high levels of sulfide and zinc oxide, and these ingredients are usually used in tire rubber products. By volume, tires are the largest rubber products in the world (up to 75%). Therefore, most of the experiments are conducted with a mixture of nr/br compounds and sbr compounds commonly used in tire production. In terms of reducing mold scale by changing the composition of the mixture, the effects of zinc sulfide, short-term vulcanization experiments, and the effects of compound components were investigated.


  Mechanism of fouling of data cable plug mold


The following conclusions were drawn on the formation of zinc sulfide crystals on the surface of the iron data wire plug mold: the in-situ formation of zinc sulfide in the mixture is a reaction product during the vulcanization process; nano-sized zinc sulfide crystals diffuse into the hematite-type iron data line The oxidized surface of the plug mold forms a layer of znsfe type; either in the same vulcanization process, or in the subsequent vulcanization process, after the deposition of additional nano-sized zinc sulfide crystals, this crystal is further grown to form a micron size Zinc sulfide crystals.


  Mixture


Reducing the level of zinc oxide in the rubber mixture can reduce the scaling of the rubber data cable plug mold; using nano-sized zinc oxide can eliminate or reduce the scaling of the data cable plug mold, however, in order to achieve the best mechanical and dynamic performance, it must be carried out More research; other metal oxide catalysts cannot solve the problem of data line plug mold fouling; alternative catalysts, such as amine or mfas, can also reduce data line plug mold fouling, however, those catalysts/accelerators have Bad smell, and some are toxic. In addition, in order to obtain a comparable vulcanization rate, another zinc catalyst (zbec) must also be used.


  Coating


There is no electrochemical reaction involved in the solution to the scaling problem of the data line plug mold; the metal coating does not help reduce the scaling of the data line plug mold, and a closed barrier must be formed on the surface of the data line plug mold; plastic coating, such as ptfe Type, can solve the scaling. However, due to hand-laying problems and space instability, these coatings cannot be used in tire data cable plug molds; magnetite (fe3o4) coatings are possible candidates. The results should be very promising, but in order to confirm the ability of the magnetite (fe3o4) coating to prevent scaling, experiments must be performed on the tire data cable plug mold.
