Failure mode and mechanism of data cable plug mold
There are many types of data cable plug molds, the working conditions are very different, and the damaged parts are also different, but there are roughly three types of failures, namely wear, fracture, and plastic deformation.
1. Wear failure
When the data cable plug mold is in service, it contacts the forming blank and produces relative motion. Due to the relative movement of the surface, the phenomenon that the contact surface gradually loses material is called wear. Wear failure can be divided into the following types:
(1) Fatigue and wear When two contact surfaces move relative to each other, under the action of cyclic stress (mechanical stress and thermal stress), the phenomenon that the surface metal fatigue falls off is called fatigue wear.
(2) Cavitation wear and erosion wear The bubbles on the surface of the cavitation wear metal rupture, generating instantaneous impact and high temperature, and the phenomenon of tiny pits and pits on the surface of the data line plug mold is called cavitation wear.
Erosion wear liquid and solid fine particles repeatedly impact the surface of the data line plug mold at high speed, causing local material loss on the surface of the data line plug mold, and the phenomenon of forming pits and pits is called erosion wear.
(3) Abrasive wear During the friction process, chemical or electrochemical reactions occur on the surface of the data cable plug mold and the surrounding medium, coupled with the mechanical action of friction, the phenomenon of causing the surface material to fall off is called abrasive wear.
(4) Interaction of wear and friction The friction and wear situation is very complicated. Under certain working conditions, the relative movement of the data line plug mold and the workpiece (or blank) generally does not only exist in one form, but often exists in multiple forms. And influence each other.
2. Fracture failure
When the data cable plug mold has a large crack or is separated into two parts and several parts lose their serviceability, it becomes a fracture failure. Fracture can be divided into plastic fracture and brittle fracture. Most of the data line plug mold materials are medium and high-strength steel, and the fracture form is mostly brittle fracture. Brittle fracture can be divided into one-time fracture and fatigue fracture.
3. Plastic deformation failure
Plastic data cable plug molds are subject to great stress during service and are uneven. When the stress of a part of the data line plug mold exceeds the yield limit of the data line plug mold material at that time, plastic deformation will occur in the form of lattice slip, twinning, grain boundary slip, etc., changing the geometry When the shape or size cannot be repaired and then served, it is called plastic deformation failure. The failure modes of plastic deformation are upsetting, bending, cavity expansion, collapse and so on.
